About Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, Mumbai is an advanced research institute established and funded by the Reserve Bank of India. The college was established in the year 1987 and it was inaugurated by Late. Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India. The institute is popularly known as IGIDR Mumbai. The college is recognised as a Deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act and accredited by NAAC with a ‘B+’ grade.

The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research campus covers an area of 14 acres. The college has a faculty strength of 26. IGIDR courses list consists of two programmes: M.Sc Economics and PhD Development Studies. IGIDR Mumbai PhD and M.Sc programmes were started in the year 1990 and 2003, respectively. At present, a total of 90 students are enrolled in the college. 

IGIDR admissions are offered based on the computer based test and a personal interview 24 conducted by the college. The institute has a placement committee that conducts IGIDR Mumbai placement drive every year.

Courses & Admission 2024 at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research

The institute provides courses at UG and doctoral levels. Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research courses are M.Sc Economics and PhD Development Studies. Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research Scholarships

The college offers various merit-based and need based scholarships to students. In order to avail IGIDR Mumbai scholarships, students must meet the eligibility criteria determined by the college. The institute provides five scholarships to M.Sc Economics students per academic year. Students enrolled in the PhD Development Studies courses are offered research fellowship. IGIDR scholarship amount offered to M.Sc students is Rs 10,000 per month.

IGIDR Mumbai merit list 2023 is released on the official website of the college. The institute releases separate merit lists for M.Sc Economics and PhD Development  Studies admissions. Only candidates whose names are in the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research merit list are offered admission in M.Sc and PhD programmes.
